I saw that too and I wondered if the school teachers were trying to protect the kids from something. It's the only reasoning that makes sense. The teachers must've taken turns staying with them at the school.
I can't believe the school is only obligated to notify the police after FIVE DAYS, 5 days!! why not the same day that parents fail to collect them. This is disgusting.
5 days? Makes you wonder why there was such a huge fuss over whether or not the baby hatch was ethical. . . I guess everyone has just been dropping their kids off at daycare and never going back to get them! I was amazed (horrified) at this story too! Laura
just a bewildered american woman stuck in japan with a husband, a boy, a girl and another little boy. if you find my sanity, you can keep it. i don't think i would know what to do with it now!

Wow! I cannot even imagine! Maybe it is better that it has worked out this way, the parents are obviously not very caring!
