Ha ha ha. I not only had a fluoro shirt I had the technicolour one that changed colours! Pretty useless in Australia though as it was always so hot it never changed to the cool colour!
Amazing how many of those apply in Australia, as well. I had a friend who spent all her allowance sending presents to NKOTB...
And I *still* love Bon Jovi. :)
Did you do off the shoulder t-shirts, too? And pop-balls? Hmmm armfulls of skinny rubber bracelets? Must dig out some primary school pictures...
lol... those were cracking me up! Also love the pictures in your other post... AND the pics of Sasha!!!! sooooooo pretty!!!
I enjoyed this 80's post very much!!! Especially since I was a child of the 80's too!
I loved those "where's the beef" commercials ha ha ha.
And the Smurf's rocked!
I had 1 neon shirt. But for the most part, I just followed the fashions my older girl cousins did. They were all into the Flashdance shirts more then the neon, and so my mom cut me a few of the sweatshirts and stuff and I would wear tank tops under that. So, we did more of a Flashdance look, lol. And then all the girls were really into the "wearing tons of bracelets" on one arm thing. So since my older girl cousins did that, and I was younger, I too asked my mom to buy me a whole bunch of bangle bracelets and she did. So, I didn't do the neon so much. Mostly did the flashdance sweatshirts and the heavily bangle bracelet arms and high teased bangs were popular too. LOL.
My favorite song from the New Kids on the Block was, "Please Don't Go Girl" I must have listened to that song a billion times. I think my whole family might still be having nightmares about that song because I played it so much. "Please don't go girl, you would ruin my whole world, tell me you'll stay, never ever go away" ROFL!!!! Oh my goodness!
And yup to Fraggle Rock and yup to Saved by the Bell for sure. I haven't even googled this...this is just from memory, but from Saved by the Bell, I remember, Zack, aka, "Preppy", the Mario Lopez character used to call Zack preppy all the time, lol. Jesse (didn't she grow up and do the movie Showgirls or whatever?) And Tiffany Amber Theisan who later was on Bev Hills 90212. And Screech, poor screech he was such a total dork, granted a nice loveable dork, but still a dork!
And, I played M.A.S.H. a bazillion times too, that was the funnest game! I also liked, "light as a feather stiff as a board" Ha ha ha. Both of those games,so much fun to do at slumber parties!!!
Those were the days!!!! And yup to the friendship bracelets too, I had so many of those in high school. What a fun post!!!
I was born in the early 80s and this stuff as all pretty relevent! Somethings I might have been to young for!!
Fun post!
Oh damn I'm still singing that Bon Jovi song!
My sistr got Fraggle Rock on DVD! 'The trash heap has spoken, NYAAAA'
Oh my gosh... all this is too real and now I can not get that song outta my head... eeek...
Neon, head to toe and fake leather pants and skirts.
Barrettes with strings and beads. Bananna Clips, SV Jeans, Jordache and Levis.
I graduated H.S. Earlie 90's but I remember the 80's and I LOVED the Gooneis.
I graduated high school early 90's too. How funny Girl Japan!
I was all into Guess jeans though and Espirit and Izod! LOL.
And remember the torn jean look? I love that Illahee posted this, it made us all think back and remember all this crazy stuff!
And I loved the song Cyndi Lauper did for the Goonies soundtrack, I actually have that song on my Ipod, LOL!
see i thought i was all 80's, but sadly, more than half of this list doesn't ring with me.... I guess because I was in COLLEGE in the 80's. I was into the music and culture from movies but far removed from t.v. culture.
karma karma karma karma chameleon...
