so, we have survived another undokai (sports day) at the kindergarten! actually, it's not too bad because many of the events change each year. some are the same, like the ball toss (only for grandparents), the elem. kids' obstacle course, the star parade at the end, but other things change. this year the first years/daddy event had the little kids wearing crowns that they made, their homeroom teachers dressing up as witches and holding huge apples, and the daddies donning a red or white 'dress', running with their kid to the teacher, taking a 'bite' of the apple, falling on the mat, receiving a kiss from their kid, getting up again, running a bit more around a cone then back to their class for the next pair to go. it was incredibly cute seeing the kids kiss their daddies. hiro said tommy wouldn't do it, but he did! and a lot of the dads really got into it, fainting in spectacular ways. one dad came back for seconds (of the apple) before croaking onto the mat. it was really cute. i did the first year/mommy dance, which is the same each year except the dance changes. thankfully i won't have to do that again! lol this year the 'horseman' game was with the second and third years and afterward i realized, we'll have a second and third year next year! OMG, will i have to do it?? stay tuned....

there are a lot of kids at the yochien, and it took a long, long time. even though they actually started on time this year, the morning session ended nearly an hour late. so not fun. but the weather was nice and the kids had a good time, so that was good. only two more kindy undokais to go....

oh! and would you believe i have no photos! i brought the nikon, but the battery had died, and my olypmus was at home on the table (all the recent knitting photos!) my keitai can take photos, but sadly it is rounding the last corner of its life and just turns itself off for no good reason all the time. i managed to post on facebook once about wanting to escape the undokai, but that was about it! so, no photos this year.
