in january, there is a holiday celebrating all the 20 year olds who have become adults in japan.  at the yochien my kids go to, they have a 1/4 coming of age day for the five year olds.  it's quite cute, the boys dress up in little tuxes, and the girls wear fluffy dresses.  last january was tommy's chance.

during the ceremony, each child goes to the mike at the front of the stage and makes a little speech.  basically they say what group they are in, their name and what they want to be when they grow up.  most boys want to be ultraman or pokemon.  most girls want to be a worker in a cake shop, or a member of AKB48 (*vomits*).  my son, however, wants to be funny.  that's my boy!
