so, as most of you know, i lost about ten kilos (22 pounds) before i got pregnant--mainly through swimming. well, since we moved to munakata, i haven't been swimming...until a few weeks ago. we go to the community pool, because it's less expensive than the swimming school, but....it's public. actually, it's quite new with sparkling clean (looking) water, nice showers and a sauna and a jacuzzi, but.... when i was there the other night, a guy was coughing and spitting into the 'drain'. and not just any coughing. lord, it sounded like he was hacking up a lung! and then spitting! then blowing his nose! it was so disgusting, i could barely get my twenty minutes in (i like to exercise for at least twenty minutes) before i just had to get out.

this is nothing new to me. for some reason, japanese people love to expel their phlegm and snot in the pool. they put it in the 'drain' (or whatever you call it), but to me, it's still in the pool! i don't ever recall this happening in the US. i know that shared swimming pools are bound to have...things...from other people. that's what chlorine is for. but please, for god's sake, don't blow your nose in the pool! eugh!

i told yoshi i don't want to swim anymore. it really sucks, because it's basically the only exercise i can stick with. sure, i can walk. i've even managed to walk every day for two weeks. but do you have any idea how cold it is right now?? too bloody cold, that's how cold. there's no way i'll keep up with a walking regiment. and at the pool, there's also a training gym...they even have dance/aerobic classes. but i'm too 'big' for them. *sigh* i don't wanna stop, but i also don't wanna swim....
