finally got it all together! in the end, i used
this method to join the squares. (warning, awesome crochet site there!!) seventy roses, look at that! i am very happy with it, i think it's going to be a great sofa afghan. phew, one more big project finished!
i also found something yesterday that makes me want to sew again. i haven't sewn in months, mainly because i don't want to deal with the kids and the sewing machine. i'm afraid they're going to touch it and break something. anyway, look at this:
it's a fabric book, that you sew together yourself! i am so excited to have found this, it's the first one i have seen in japan. my mom sent me some last year, they were so easy to make! this one, however, is rudolph the red nosed reindeer. how cool is that? maybe if i get my sewing out and get this together, i will regain the christmas mood i somehow lost this week....
i also got some cute fat quarters:
and a few weeks ago i found some great fabric on sale. one was perfect for christmas (though i have no projects in mind) and the others were pretty:
that last one amused me because of this:
i used to work at jo-ann's!

wow - the afghan looks amazing! How cool that you made it all. I am in awe.
Those fabrics are pretty cool too - almost makes me want to find something like it and start a sewing project (oh, but that's right, I can't sew, hehe! my machine lies hidden in the back of the cupboard.....one day, maybe)
Looking forward to seeing the finished product of the fabric book, should definately set the Christmas mood!
The afghan you made came out so gorgeous!!!
Also, the fabric you picked was really nice, my favorite one was the purple one and my 2nd favorite was the one below the purple one.
gorgeous. Wow. If I ever (big if) made something that looked that good I would frame it. Or at least vaccupack it until my kids are 30ish...
Can't wait to see what you do next!
That afghan is LOVELY. I made a similar one about nine years ago for a friend's baby. It was much smaller than yours and I cheated by going around each square again with triples to make them a bit bigger. Yours looks much better.
And I agree with Gina, the purple fabric is the best!
WOW! I am in total awe.........!!!!!
kristin you are so talented!
and that's really purty fabric
Wow that afghan is amazing, you did a great job.
Wow, a fabric book in Japan? I have an ABC one I bought years ago that I need to figure out what in the world I did with it. I know I saw it somewhere...
The afghan looks awesome, Illahee! :) You did a great job! :) Whoever gets to snuggle under that is going to be one lucky person! :)
I Love the afghan, I wish I had a talent like that! I have a machine but can't sew much other than curtains and table cloths- not much talent required there....
Congrats on the afghan! As a fellow crocheter, I know how much work goes into one of those. It's lovely. Very nice job.
And the material makes me want to go out and get a sewing machine....but I think I'll lie down until that feeling goes away. :-)
Nice work.
thanks everyone, for the kind comments on my afghan. now, just to find time to sew...
That afghan is just beautiful, what a great talent to have. I wish I could crochet like that!
