wow!!! looks delicious!! homegrown stuff always tastes the best!!
my fave use for cucumbers is putting them in home made tsatsaki (middle eastern yogurt sauce - sorry I'm not a good speller) and eating them with pita bread and chicken!
The first one is always so exciting! We are on about our 200th and the thrill is starting to turn to burden. Is Tommy interested in visiting Gifu, by any chance?
I know! I know! It's dreadful, my condolences. L's green strawberry picking was traumatic for us all, so I do understand. I was hoping to retrain him. But our cucumbers are super-spiky, so he'd probably still go for the tomatoes. Maybe you could teach him to pick those horrible orange vine beetles, small, reddish, roundish, and more fun to chase than green tomatoes. My neighbors all think I am completely insane leaping around after them with my zapper racket. L, unfortunately, is afraid of bugs.
just a bewildered american woman stuck in japan with a husband, a boy, a girl and another little boy. if you find my sanity, you can keep it. i don't think i would know what to do with it now!
