last year we didn't really plan our garden. some things just started growing, probably because of composting. well, i did plant a couple of goya plants. but we had some great tomato plants, and a couple of pumpkin vines that gave us a couple of pumpkins. that was cool.
this year we've planted a few things, and at the moment the tomatoes are doing GREAT! the problem? tommy keeps picking the green tomatoes off. i don't know if he thinks they're balls (toys) or just something cool to pick off the plants, but it's driving me crazy!! i don't think i'm going to let the kids play in the garden too often! yikes! my poor poor tomato plants....
as an aside to gardening, what the hell happened to the rainy season? yes, we had cloudy--and a few, but only a few, rainy--days for two weeks, but the past four or five days? gorgeous!! and not a bit humid! the only problem was the first clear day it was also VERY sandy, so that was kind of a bummer. but i LIKE rainy season! well, except maybe the not being able to dry laundry part. but i like the rain, it reminds me a bit of home. AND, rainy seasons with lots of rain help keep the suzumebatchi population down. *sigh* come back, rainy season!!

It's slipped and is sitting right on top of Hokkaido right now. It has rained and I mean POURED for a good part of each day since June 1st and I am sick of it!
I was so glad when it did not rain at all when we were in Tokyo last June. Rain is not good for seeing the sights!
Fresh, home grown tomatoes: sounds like a great dinner to me!! :)
I so slacked off on a garden this year.
I wish I had one going.
Our rainy season has been pretty mild as well, not much rain, but lots of cloudy, overcast days, which I love! Although last night we had a really nice storm, plenty of thunder and lightning, which I also love! Today is bright, sunny and clear.
illahee- you even talk like a farmer! The less than rainy rainy season is all the news here, too. We have had a few showers and lots of thunder and lightening but none of that heavy heavy rain that we should be getting...
As for the tomatoes, can you put wire net guards around them? I had to guard everything while the girls were little as they would pick the teeniest greenest veggies there were. grrr
I love hearing/reading how other parts of Japan are doing weather-wise. Around our little neck of the woods (Chiba and Ibaraki border), would you believe, it's been raining for us quite a bit at night since rainy season started, not a whole lot of rain for us in the days at all though yet. : ) And the last 2 or 3 nights we got some seriously wicked thunder and lightning around where we live. The days are lovely though, gray overcast and cool. The rain at night is a nice cool rain. So, we've been enjoying the weather lately. Thank god not that hot steamy sticky type rain yet. : ) : )
Your tomatoes sound good. Our tomato plant B brought home from school is getting big! @_@ Anyway just wanted to say, have a great week over there. : )
oh no vicky! i hope the rain ends soon! (and heads down to kyushu...)
gigihawaii, glad to hear your trip to tokyo was nice!
i know, typ0!
dee, the last thing you are is a slacker. you had a pretty tough few months there. sorry you don't have any veggies going right now.
i love thunder storms, too, though the kids hate them!
heather, you crack me up! i wish i had some chicken wire or something, but then i'd probably not be able to get to the tomatoes myself!
thanks gina!
