so you think you can dance

i just watched the season finale and IT WAS SO AWESOME!! ahem, sorry for the teenage moment there, but i really really loved it. the only bad part was WAITING THREE DAYS TO SEE IT! i have positive vibes for torrents, must not complain...but it was torture waiting! thankfully, when it finally came up, it downloaded in like ten minutes! WOO-HOOOOOO!

no spoilers, sorry, but oh, now i have so much video taking up space on the hard drive!

gotta post something for real

i have a few things to post about (got the box, mom!!) but yoshi's coming home late tonight so i'm just gonna veg. already watched a couple of shows, but i think i'll try to get a couple more of lost (season one) under my belt. i decided to try a new show, so you think you can dance. funny. and check this out, this is AMAZING!! loved it:

my thoughts on american idol

i have never watched american idol before, i am finding it very interesting. pretty much a popularity contest, so i have a pretty good idea who's going to win. but then, i've never watched the show before, so what do i know.

don't worry, i'm not really going to give anything away (but i think you've probably found out by now, gina, that one of our favorites has been cut before the final twelve. *sob*) this past week was a song from the years the singers were born, and before each song, the families gave a little interview. i was impressed with all the blended families there were. maybe i'm living in my own little world but it was nice to see families like my own, with parents from two different backgrounds. neat.

well, back to normal life....

tv guide

so, i don't have a lot of time right now, so i'm just going to list the shows i am currently 'watching':

america's next top model
survivor
american idol
biggest loser and biggest loser australia

medium
law and order
simpsons

...and i think there are more, but tommy is fussing so i have to figure out how to make him sleep. night!

isolated?

on friday night i watched the news on yoshi's keitai. it was really weird, because i haven't watched the news on tv in so long. the most disturbing thing was reading the japanese that flashed on the screen. or trying to read. in the past three years i haven't spoken or studied japanese much. there was a period when hiro was a baby when i was studying for the JLPT, but i didn't pass that by a long shot, and i haven't done anything about that since then.

the main reason for this is i only want to speak english to my kids (though japanese does seep in) and i want to speak only english at home. yoshi is pretty good about that, and we mainly speak to each other in english, so my days are spent in english. it's not like i forget i'm in japan, we go out too much for that, but my speaking is limited to shopping or restaurant eating, which really is a specialized set of phrases.

with new neighbors moving in, i find myself tripping over my japanese, and using too casual japanese, and often excuse myself by saying that i haven't spoken japanese much in the past three years. not having TV since we moved into our new house has also gone a long way in excluding japanese in our house. before, i would often leave NHK on in the morning because of all the (good, but in japanese) children's shows. i don't miss it, but...

last night i asked yoshi to put sazae-san on for us (he has a cable that can connect the keitai to our tv). the kids were riveted. even yoshi noticed and commented on it. when the news came on later they hardly noticed, but i think i'm glad we don't watch TV here.

the waiting game

yep, just waiting for full term. 37 weeks. that will be next sunday, yay.

so, i've been watching tv. mainly ugly betty. awesome show. but now i'm all caught up and have to wait each week for a new episode. *sigh* and i just watched family guy. i am totally creeped out that the dog had a girlfriend. eeewwwww.
