quick typhoon update

well, we seem to have 'escaped' the typhoon--it passed well east of us. it's been rather windy here, more than usual, and hiro was sent home early, but lucky for us, it didn't come straight up kyushu.

it does look like it's going/went to shikoku, so i hope it didn't cause too much damage!

oh, saturday

the past couple of weeks have been kinda hard. with the kids having HFM disease, yoshi studying for a test (then taking the test), the kids music performance (featuring taiko) and then having the following monday off, i haven't had much time to myself. i really need time to reset my systems after handling the kids (and now the dog--the cat pretty much stays to herself, though sometimes she gets lonely and then we shower her with affection.) so today was the first time i got some real quality time to myself, so i went to the movies! of course, i saw the last HP movie. i enjoyed it a lot! i also enjoyed my popcorn, i love movie theater popcorn!

the movie was in 3D, though (the non-3D was in japanese, boo) so that meant paying a bit extra. for me, it's totally stupid because i am blind in one eye and cannot 'enjoy' the 3D part. oh well, sometimes life just isn't fair.

i wandered around the mall for a bit and the body shop has some new products--made with tea tree oil. sweet! i got some oil for using on the kids' hair.

tomorrow yoshi's parents are coming over. i think i'll enjoy myself at joyfull! monday is a public holiday and may be the day we are hit with the typhoon. still waiting!!

typhoon hits!

we survived the first typhoon to come to kyushu since we moved into our new house. actually, it kind of glanced off fukuoka, since it actually hit kagoshima (far far south of here). and although it had hit category five status for a short while, and was a four on its way here, it was only a two by the time it got to us. but since it's so windy here anyway, we really felt the wind. it was also really slow, taking its sweet time to get here (which wasn't so bad) and seeming to take all day to move on (a bit more rough since the 'back side' of a typhoon is stronger). but, nothing blew away and nothing hit our house, so we are pleased.

some areas of kyushu suffered some damage because it has been quite rainy so far, so the extra wind and rain from the typhoon didn't help. no one died (as far as i know) which is always a good thing. i hope we don't get another typhoon for a long time.
