well, that *thing* is right next to the 'handle' of a sliding glass door, so.....*shudders* luckily i just opened the door and it slipped out. i may never go in my back yard again, though...
Enormous! Eeek! I am such a ninny when it comes to bugs.
I was teaching yesterday and dd2 said "Mommy, there's a bug on the wall", thinking it was another yasude, "Yes, yes, dear, shhhh." Then I look up and see a big killer bee. Chaos ensues with the kids cowering in the corner while I am simultaneously squealing and trying to trap the darn thing. Finally gave up on catching it and bringing outside, but managed to get it under a bowl on the floor. Piled books on top and waiting for Dh to come home and deal with it.
Yeesh, holy krap! I wonder if we'll get anything like this in our place in the city. All I've seen so far are a lot of noraneko and I'm guessing there must be a ton of rats underground. Actually, I did see something that resembled a ferret running through an alley one night!...No big spiders yet, though. Ick. >_<
just a bewildered american woman stuck in japan with a husband, a boy, a girl and another little boy. if you find my sanity, you can keep it. i don't think i would know what to do with it now!

Good lord.
Yeah, the day the centipede showed up in the room where I slept on my futon, I found myself wondering much the same thing.

I'm glad your spider was willing to escape!
